Adjust your backpack with the buttons on its flap; the game view, world map and backpack scale have separate controls.
Backpack controls and restoring defaults
The small −, Type and + buttons fit on the backpack flap; the reset button sits beside its upper-right edge. Changing type does not create an item or add carrying capacity.
- Double-click the Inventory backpack icon on your Paperdoll.
- Use the − button embedded in the flap to shrink the backpack and + to enlarge it.
- Press the central Type 1 button to cycle through backpack appearances. The type label changes, but your items and the backpack's function remain the same.
- The small circular arrow at the upper right restores Type 1 and 100% scale. This selection is saved in the character profile.

Container weight and capacity
Single-clicking a Bag, wooden box, chest, barrel or other container shows the weight of its contents. Containers with a specific limit show current weight / capacity, such as 12,000 / 15,000 in a ship's hold. A normal backpack uses its character's carrying limit; the bank uses its own capacity. Bags and boxes without a separate weight limit display No container limit; this does not remove the limit of their parent backpack or character. Artisan Backpack continues to show its own 1,000-weight limit in its name. Corpses do not display a weight line.
Camera scale and backpack scale
Enlarging your backpack does not zoom into the world. Panning freely on the world map does not change your character's actual position either.
| Appearance | Control |
|---|---|
| Game world | Options → Video → Zoom: 50–200%; activated with Apply / Okay. |
| Ctrl + mouse wheel | Zooms the game world when enabled and applied in the Video tab. |
| Inventory | The backpack's − / + buttons |
| World map | Mouse wheel inside its window and the resize handle at the bottom right |
Settings menu
Paperdoll → Options contains General, Sound, Video, Macros, Combat spells, Counters and Info bar. Follow the Display settings guide for FPS, water and Zoom, and the Client settings guide for the other choices. Bag type/scale remains on its lid; the Tooltip On/Off switch remains on the toolbar.
Top bar and window title
The top bar provides Voice Chat, Map, Journal, World Map, Macroman, Tooltip and TR/EN controls. The Volantis logo appears in the window title and Windows taskbar. FPS is not reduced when the client is in the background. Ping, FPS and Position appear in the Volantis Ultima Online window title; there is no separate Network Statistics button. Tooltips open to the left of the mouse cursor with a thin border and transparent interior.
Artisan Backpack is a separate container
The small extra bag at the lower left of the Paperdoll opens your equipped Artisan Backpack. It is separate from the normal Inventory; its capacity and four GM crafting requirements are explained in its own guide. The Type option here does not replace Artisan Backpack.
